About Jodifur

I'm Jodi, mom to one, wife to one, dog owner of one, friend to the masses.  I work part-time as an attorney.  I am a featured blogger on joeshopping, where I blog twice weekly about clothes and fashion and shopping.  And shoes.  I have a thing about shoes.  I love shoes so much there is an entire day devoted to them, Shoe Friday. 

I also tweet, a lot.  And yes, there is Facebook.  And a fan page.  I caved after years of saying I would never join.  Or, you can email me at jodi@lucidphoenix.com.  I love email, I really, really do.  

Why do I blog?  Well, the answer is easy and not so easy.  I started a blog because my husband told me I read so many blogs I may as well write one.  And I did, and here we are.  But really, I blog because it has brought me amazing friends and a sense of community I have never found before.

Why Jodifur?  Well, I always hated my name. My parents needed a "j" (Jews name for a deceased relative using the first initial, and I'm Jewish, did I say that?  Knowing that makes the previous sentence make much more sense) and they were convinced I was a boy, and they were going to name me Jeffrey. They didn't have a girls name and went with Jodi. I complained that they should have named me Jennifer like every other girl in my generation. My dad called me Jodifer. When I started my blog that name was taken, so I went with Jodifur.

What is the randomness of life?  When I was in college, the phrase random was huge.  Something bad happened to you, say you slipped on the ice on the way to class, (I went to college in Ct., there was always ice), that's Random.  Keep seeing the same guy all over campus, that's Random.  In fact, we even named that guy Random guy.  So, Jodifur celebrates the randomness of life, because I talk about anything and everything.

This blog originally started on blogger, and moved over in January of 2009.  So, if you go through the archives and posts before that look weird, well, migration was a nightmare and I refused to go back and add paragraphs.  I actually really like paragraphs, and use them generously.  As well as parenthesis, and commas, I really like the comma.  Grammar rules, not so much.  Some of the posts link to posts in blogger, I'm working on changing them over.  It's just going to take a small lifetime.

I love good red wine, bad tv, very, very spicy food, and show tunes.  I am always trying to lose 10 pounds.  I hate incompetence, people who lie, and I am terrified to fly.

I try very hard to email back every person who comments so make sure you leave a valid email with your comment.  Just be nice.  Please.  I reserve the right to delete any comment I want.  This is my blog, that's just the way I roll.  I'm random that way.
